Hi, in this blog post i am going to tell you Calculate time in Excel. I hope will be able calculate time in more easily after reading this blog post.

There are many ways to calculate time in Excel, maybe you read different other blog posts or watch video on YouTube or other platforms for Time Calculation in Microsoft Excel. I want to be motioned that not are not guiding to wrong, as mentioned above there are many ways to calculate time in Excel.

But i will tell you here my technic which i am using professional and personal tasks. to calculate time in Microsoft Excel we should have to understand rotation of minutes and hour in a day.

As we all know that 1 Day equal 24 hours, and 1 hour equal 60 minutes, and if you multiply 24 with 60 will get answer 1440. and well will use this 4-digit number in our Microsoft Excel formula to calculate or get difference between two times.

I make example excel file for this blog post you can also download this excel for you practices or you can save this for reference sheet, you can see in image below that in this Excel sheet we have 4 columns (From Time, To Time, Minutes and Hour) means we can calculate minutes and hour in this excel sheet.  


Here we use a formula for calculation of Mintus first, and the formula is very simple we just subtract after time from before time. and then multiply it with 1440 as I motioned above. write the formula as shown below.

=(B3-A3)*1440

Here I put subtraction in bracket according to mathematics arithmetic rule and then multiply it with 1440. now for calculation of hours we just divide the answer with 60.  

=C3/60
